Default Shift Lock

Hello this is my first time on the forum! I have heard great things. I have an 1998 S70. Recently I have to press the shif-lock override to getthe car out of park. I had never had to do that before. How can I switch it back? If something is broken, what could it be? What can I expect to pay? I rather not pay! I am a poor college student.

Sounds like a relay or something that would usually switch the shiftlock off by pressing the brakes... IMO

You have to replace the shift lock switch in the console. I will find directions on how to do it and post them here.

I knowI did this and it did NOT involve soldering. It was tedious, but not hard at all. Seeing the dagone switch was the hardes part.

This happened to me after the dealership changed the transmission fluid, the next day did not have to press shift lock, so never thought about it again.
