Default Sluggish Front Passenger Window

Hello all - I am the happy owner of a 1998 S70 with about 155k miles on her, but she does have a few minor issues.

The front passenger side window is very sluggish in lowering. After reading some of the existing posts on this, I tried it with both the driver's control switch and the passenger's, and that made no difference... presumably this means the switches are not at fault?

A few more details - it raises ok, but the lowering is the big problem, and especially the first 1/3 of travel in lowering, it barely creeps forward... then after about 1/3 of travel it's as if we get past some obstruction, or perhaps gain better leverage in the hidden linkage, and the window moves fairly well down to the sill.

It seems to be getting worse with time, and I suspect it won't be long before it won't move at all. Any ideas as to what might need fixing? Could this be a frictional problem in the linkages, or is the motor itself perhaps just getting tired with age?

First of all I would try some lubricant in the window channels, like spray silicone, or even WD-40, but it will make a mess of the window.

If that doesn't fix it, the rear guide may be broken, which is very common. Does the door make a loud noise when you close the door? Like something is loose? If so, or even if not, the guide may be broken. If it is obstructing the window, get it fixed, because it can jam and break the regulator.

Hi - thanks for your reply - I haven't had the door apart yet, but there is no rattling noise when I close it.

I agree that the window channel guide might be broken as well.
