Default stalled

My wife's car - 98 S70 GLT, AT 2.4T - stalled when driving about 45mph. No indication of stalling , just as if the ignition was shut off. The car would not restart for at least 25 mins and we had it towed to a local shop. After sitting in their lot over the weekend , the car started right up runs as it always has - great. The check engine light had been on for quite some time before this happened since we were told not worry about it by the local Volvo dealer since the car always ran smooth and dependable. The local shop ran the CEL codes and returned as faulty ecu but today two Volvo mechanics told me that the ecu would most likely NOT be the problem. No knowledgable Volvo mechanics can get to it for another week and my wife is now paranoid to drive it. The only strange thing I noticed a week ago was ocassionally every 5 miles or so a small amount of exhaust smoke would be present for 2-3 seconds. Any ideas where to start looking ?

Should be in main fuse panel under hood, it's kinda shaped like an "L". I think they are labeled on the cover.

o.k. , I replaced the fuel pump relay, fuel filter & fuel pump thursday evening i was able to buy all three parts off ebay and locally for a whopping $52 plus 2 hrs of my labor. The car runs and drives again ; have taken three 15 mile trips and no problems yet but want to keep it locally for a few weeks to make sure. However, now we have a oil leak problem. I cant narrow down where it's coming from - somewhere on the back side of the motor. Everytime I clean it off and restart the car for 5 mins , the oil looks to leaking from somewhere different than the last visual check. argh ! any common areas to look for on a s70 B5254T ????

my best advice for the oil leak, clean undercarriage and bottom sides of engine with degreaser and water. then just see where it originates from, you can track it easier with a very clean underside. maybe just an oil pan bolt loose, or oil drain plug problem, etc.

iv'e cleaned the underside several times and still can't figure out where the oil is coming from ... but it's leaking worse now. This morning I was driving it to a Volvo shop to have the CEL and oil leak checked and after just 5 mins of running the car started running rough again and stalled at a stop sign. It would restart but stall when I put it into drive. After a few restarts it would not fire up. I turned the key four times to build up pressure and then once again it started and was able to limp it home. However, now the engine runs runs rough and acts like I lost a cylinder or two and the CEL is flashing now as before it was steady now. The oil level was fine when I left home and is still ok. now what ? thanks

o.k. , made it over to the Volvo mechanics shop and he did a look over and this is what he discovered. BAD MAF , cam seals leaking , & Vent Box PCV needs replaced. Could anyone tell if the estimates seem inline? Replace the Cam Seals - $245 ; Replace Vent Box and clean PCV system - $300 and he'll replace the MAF free if I furnish the part. Is this a fair price ? thanks

Might want to ask for some coffee and doughnuts though. Sounds fair to me too.
