Default "Tracs Off" light and "ABS" lights intermittent

Going to work yesterday the traction control off light came on followed by the ABS light. Got to work and **** off my car. Restarted and the lights are gone.

Coming home the lights came on again.

Heading to work this morning I don't get them. Same route. Only difference is I haven't hit the 70MPH(115KM/H highway yet. I'll be on I85 in about 5 minutes. So far my max speed has been 60MPH(98KM/H)

A mechanic buddy said it sounds like a wheel speed sensor.

I have not had the code read yet. Gonna stop by a parts store on the way home if the light comes back on.

Any other suggestions?

Mercian car. Well maintained. 98 S70 133105 miles.

Either a wheel speed sensor or the ABS module has gone bad. I'm dealing with the same issus on our 98 S70. About to pull the ABS module and send it to Victor Rocha for repair. Please keep us posted on what you find out with your issue.....Good Luck!

Will do. Keep us posted on your results also please. I'm gonna go to the Advance Auto Parts on the way home and get them to scan the code.

Will this vehicle give a code for the specific speed sensor if that's the issue?

As example; say front right would be A500, front left B500 back right C500 and back left D500.

Yes the codes should show which wheel threw the code. Caveot is not all scanners can read the chassis codes (ie different code sets for power train vs ABS, airbags etc). My 850 has been randomly turning the ABS light on for years :-) turn the key off and its gone...

Hmmm, sounds like we are all dealing with a similar issue. Work has kept me busy but I am going to try to pul the ABS module this weekend if it stops raining for a half hour

It's definitely the ABS module. I ordered the exchange service from midwestabs.com and it arrived within 3 days. Installed it, all ABS problems went away all together
