turbo??
how do you get the turbo to kick in? while coming home from work I was in some back road hills with no traffic and finally felt the turbo kick in as I hit it to get up the hill, and the next one also, I could hear and feel it, seems like it does not spool up in stop and go traffic or on the freeway. I guess that is why my mpg is 26.4 average. This is my first turbo, I am use to big american iron, olds 442, and firebird formula(350 corvette) and my mercedes 560sl. any thoughts

! Depending on the torque converter forthe S70 T5 you should be launching with about 2-3 psiNow only do this if your car is in good shape but this should get you out of the hole (dead start from a dig) and get the jump on the guy next to you. Once you get the technic mastered it is a whole lot of fun. You need this extra PSI on the launch to get these heavy cars moving!!
What setting do you have the preformance switch in? Drive with it in S (sport) mode. It will kick in a lot more. The E (economy) mode limits the speed of the car. On that LPT (GLT), it doesn't take much to launch the car. Just switch it in S mode and punch it.
Can you explain that a little more?
with s70's ??

All of my '90's model Volvos have a preformance selector near the gear shifter that allows me to choose how the computer and transmission operates. W (winter) S (sport) E (economy) modes. I can choose the setting and drive with it. Rather nice. I didn't know they stopped putting that in the S70's after my '98 model.

If you really want to hear your turbo, do what some guy did in Tulsa... He put some kind of megaphone on his turbo and drilled a hole in the firewall of the car just behind the turbo. Man it sounded like someone had real live big horses loose in the car. You could hear the turbo breath and everything. The first two times I punched it I had to let off the gas it was so shocking. Funniest test drive I ever did.
