maybe a dumb question, but what should the turbo sound like? i know a lot of turbos are like a high pitched whistling, but mine sounds more like air moving very fast. do i possibly need new hoses for the turbo? or should it sound like that? i have gotten a couple of TCV codes even though i replaced it with the IPDTCV

It is hard to describe. It is kind of like a whining noise.

 

mine only sounds like that when its cold. the rest of the time it seems like its just rushing air. i'm having the hoses replaced this weekend, i'll see what that does

 

Also connect an aftermarket boost guage and see what the boost levels are.

 

are those difficult to install? i dont want to have to take off the dash or anything

 

Nope not really you need to run a small hose from inside to outside under the hood.
