Default Turn signals do not flash

I have a 2000 Volvo S70 and I hope I can get some advice on how to fix my problem. Both of my turn signals turn on, but will not flash. When the problem first started, the turn signals would work as normal, but about a few minutes into the drive they stopped flashing. As time went on, they stopped flashing altogether. Every other electrical component in my vehicle works great. Wipers, windshield washer, head lights, high beams, and all light bulbs in the car work. Also, the hazard lights turn on, but will not flash. Anyone have any ideas on what is going on? Thanks in advance for any help that you give.

You put in blinker fluid? Can't forget the blinker fluid.

on american cars there is a flasher relay type that plugs in to the fuse panel, when it goes bad it does what you describe. look for one, it is round and silver aluminum about an inch tall and a inch around with 3 electric leads. don`t know what volvo uses.

Default Same problem

My turn signals are doing the same thing. They work when I first start up but shortly afterwards they stop flashing. Hazards are also inoperatable when this happens. I have checked all fuses and all are OK. Problem appears to be with the flasher unit but I can't find where it is located, then again the signals flash some times but not others. I'm baffled and have noticed others have had the same problem yet no solution is given. Suggestions?

Call the local dealer to see if there is a recall. Then post back. If there is a recall, get the number and post it as well.

I contacted Volvo and there is no recalls on my particular vehicle. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this problem might be from?

I would pull the bulbs and make sure they look good. Sometimes the bulb in the 960 have contacts that connect and short out the system.

Smile Had same problem, fixed now!

I purchased my 98 T5 last April and just before taking it in to my service guy to look after a couple of issues, the turn signals and e-flasher started acting just as you describe. The flasher unit mounted in the centre console (behind & below the audio system) was replaced and the signals have worked fine ever since. Hope this helps!

Mark.

Default Turn signals stop flashing

Thanks MiniMark *** I had a similar problem with my 2000 VW Beetle and the flasher unit is actually part of the Hazard switch. That was my initial thought and I wanted someone to confirm before I dig into the dash board. Anyone ever replace the hazard switch and have a tutorial to help me out?
Thanks,
M&M
