Default 02 S80 need some help

Hello all! I am new to the volvo forums and I am working on a volvo with some problems. First off the car is a 2002 Volvo S80 2.9 non-turbo. After recently replacing the engine due to extreme overheating resulting in head damage and loss of compression on 2 cylinders. The problem is after engine replacment the car started first try ran for 4-5 seconds and ran SMOOTH and died. After checking a few things timing, spark, etc. I found out that when the car dies it is due to loss of injection pulse. Help is appreciated. later JS

I tried swapping the cam and crank position sensor with test units and no effect good or bad still has the same problem. It will crank and run for 4-5 sec. still on the first try but after that it has no pulse.

OK it sounds like the immoblizer is kicking in and stopping it from running.

Thanks that is what i was thinking upon trying to start it the starter did not recieve signal to start having an ignition swtich I swapped it and it started and died. Just like before and at one point the car would still not start and the a/c compressor clicked.Upon checking theres no voltage going to the starter exciter wire. If the problem is in the immobilizer system would the car have to go to the dealer for programming? Thanks again JS

Yes it will. But what they will do it first replace the antenna ring(Light around ignition switch) then a key and if none of that worked they would replace the immoblizer and the keys.

So would replacing the antenna ring also have to be programmed at the dealer or can I replace without programming?

You can replace it your self without any programming.
