'02 S80 T6 inner CV tripod joint boot: How much grease?
The '02 S80 T6's driver & passenger side inner tripod joint boots have sprung a leak where the big end of the boot fits on over the tripod housing and have been flinging grease about even though there are no cracks nor tears in either boot.
I've been looking all through VADIS and there's no indication of just how much new grease needs to be added to each tripod joint when replacing the boot (e.g. how much goes in the tripod housing vs. inside the boot).
So just how much grease does each tripod joint require? From what I've been reading on the intarwebs, too much grease is every bit as bad as too little.
All this is in regards to the S80 T6's 4-speed 4T65EV-GT transaxle.

Yes, you grease the joint , not the boot. The typical pack of grease holds about a tablespoon full.
Too much slings off and adds mass to the inside of the boot which does nothing for the joint.
Obviously, the quality of grease counts here.
If the clamp is bad, replace the clamp.
