How are you checking continuity?

Ok. I was wrong. This time I used a multimeter to test continuity. There is continuity from 50 to 86. PASS sorry for the confusion. The original test was wrong.

If there is power at 50 during cranking and not at 86, then there can't be continuity.

Default Grrr - So sorry.........

I went thru and checked over again. Something went wrong...here it is...

At starter relay:
87 - Continuity PASS
85 - Ground when cranking PASS
30 - Power at all times PASS
86 - Power when ignition in start position PASS

ALL FUSES have been checked - PASS

The first time I tested this, I didn't do it right. There is power all the way through the really from the ignition switch. But what I want to make sure of is 87...continuity to what?

SOOOOO SORRY.

Continuity between 87 and the starter solenoid (green and red wire). How are you saying continuity there is good when you don't know what you're measuring? Giving made up results is not going to help.

Not made up results. So sorry. It was my mistake. I am now using a multimeter set to the right option for all tests. I'm sorry. I don't know what happened on the first time thru. And I did check continuity just now from 87 to starter with the right setting on the meter. And there was zero resistance. Please accept my apologies.

All right. Obviously, I am a moron. Here's what's REALLY happening at the relay. Had a friend verify with me. Taught me something about it all...here goes...

87 to solenoid. Continuity PASS

86 to 50 ignition switch in position III: Continuity and provides power to 86 PASS

30 has power, but 0.76 volts. very little. PASS?

85 to ground continuity when ignition switch in position III. FAIL. Did I get this right by checking for continuity at cranking position?

87 no power at ignition switch position III. (and this, I think is expected if 85 fails, right?)

If you still have any compassion after this, please advise. Thank you for your time. YOU'VE BEEN REAL REAL GOOD THROUGH THIS WHOLE THING.

By power, I mean battery voltage. .76 volts is not what you're looking for at 30. So you have no power to the relay.

85 should be grounded by the CEM during cranking.

87 won't have power because the relay does not have power or ground.

You said you checked fuses, but I would double check fuse 13 under the hood. That is what supplies power to 30 on the relay.

30 Now has power at 11.67 volts. Fuse 13 was not seated properly. The fuse passes inspection and test.

So still no power to 87 when cranking? And no ground to the relay?

Gonna need VIDA to see why the CEM isn't grounding the relay.

No immobilizer message such as "start prevented"?

Default Starter not engaging

Hi I was reading up 9n this issue and following your procedure and it appears I have no ground at 85. I assume I'll trace that wire to origin and clean or repair to solve ground issue? Thank you.
