Lightbulb 2002 S80 Suspension Question

I believe that I need new struts but trying to confirm before I purchase the parts. What I got is when I go over bumps or anything I hear like a cardboard hitting something noise. It is hard to describe but I hear and feel every bump. That’s the struts, right? I also have a rubbing noise on the driver side every time I turn the hard all the way to the left. Also what is a good brand for struts? Reasonably priced? Thanks!

To answer your question is tough based upon your description. It may be your strut but it could be other parts as well like your spring seat, sway bar links or even your ball joint. You're best to take the tire off and find out what maybe broken or loose before ordering struts.

Default Squeeking

I have had squeeking and all kinds of noise in the front end for several years now. Ok so I was a bit sneaky. I went to Sears first because I don't really have a Swedish auto garage in this area. Sears gave me an estimate for about 850.00. Included struts, strut mounts sway bar link kit and an alignment. I have found all the parts online for about 300 total. Big difference in price. They did tell me that struts need to be replaced every 50K miles. I thought that was abit extreme. Had problem as indicated in another forum about torque settings. Does anybody know about what to use instead of using tool for the nut on the top of the strut?
