no and...no. yea no. do not get one unless you got deep pockets. These cars are amazingly featured, but like the XC90. Broke -- a lot. There were weeks on end I would work on nothing but S80s for the most part. S60 is its little cousin, and they are much better off. About the same size inside too.

LOL check out reviews on www.cars.com. It will have most of the complaints and will give you an idea of what it will take to keep the car on the road.

Thats the 5 cyl 2.5t its pretty good same as the S60 and XC90 with that engine and it doesnt have the GM tranny on it, those are the good years. I would say its a good choice if its perfectly maintained.

i looked at this car online yesterday. The black with tints looks really good. Thats the exact model i have expect mine is 2006. same engine, and almost same miles (mine has 83,000). 2005-2006 were consider the best S80 models. they has way better transmission and engine and less problems. nonetheless you should check the car history (carfax, etc). and report from the dealership (ask them for a copy). And better check it with a mechanic too. I would say a dealer ( or Volvo independent mechanic).
From the pictures everything looks good and nothing is missing. 2006 S80 got a wood steering wheel as standard.
That center speaker on dashboard doesnt has speaker I(just to let you know). i am not sure why Volvo had it. Its for more upscale audio Pro II system.
The things i changed on my S80 was brakes (and fluid), coolant and cabin and engine airfilters. Make sure that you also check those filters.
Other than that you will be happy with the car. Plus i see there is some sort of vacation to Las Vegas. haha that would be awsome..but i am sure there might be some catch..
Anyways good luck on the purchase and post pictures when you own the car .

Thanks for the replys looks like its 50/50. I looked at cars.com reviews but it was hard to tell what years they were talking about. From what i see the 2.5t version has been solid but would still love any other input.

this is a great review site too..i looked @ this site for lot of car reviews before buying the car. Also you can look at 2006 year too..since they were exactly the same. Even tho reviews are not that recent it still give you an idea. I found very positive responses.
Have a look at it:

We've owned a 06 S80 since 03/08. It was a CPO from the dealership. It had 34k on it and now has 85k. I have changed ATF, plugs, filters, and brake pads. I would say Volvo got it right with this model.

you should post pictures on this thread. Dont see many 06 year models. ALso did you change plugs from dealer and if so how much and at what mileage. I think around 75,000 miles?

Every used car requires maintanance and gets broken down if not maintain well from time to time. In my personal opinion those 2.5t 5 cylinder with the 5 speed tranny are good. Which comes on the 04-06 s80's, 03-06 xc90's and since the s60 started they are good cars, not cheap to maintain if ur not mechanically experienced; but great safe cars. and i personnally owned the s60 t5 and it didnt gave me no issue at all at 160k that i sold it.

aka, That is the right mileage. I looked at them at 50k and they were fine. I wrote down the part # and cross referenced then with Denso plugs because they had the little tip like the iridium plugs. No problems with the
Ik 22's.

my '05 is one of the best cars I've ever owned. Never broken, except fog lights and fuel door.
