2008 S80 Noise from engine compartment
I have a 2008 S80 with 3.2L engine. Engine has knocking noise coming from left side when going over bumps. Also can be heard immediately as engine throttled up or down when driven. I suspect it is left motor mount but I can not find its location. Please, can someone tell me where it is located and how i might get to it to replace it.

I've inspected that mount and can't find anything broken. Noise is pretty obvious that it is coming from driver's side.
The torque mount #31430441 is quite common to go bad ...

Number 8 in the diagram is very common. Number 12 is the mount on the driver's side, located under the battery.
I've replaced several passenger side mounts and seen other guys do quite a few as well. Never had a driver's side fail yet.

Had similar issue with my 2008 xc70 80k miles.started when car was cold and putting in reverse I would hear a grinding noise. In 2-3 weeks it also started to make same noise in low gears for about 5-6 miles until the engine would fully warm up (my guess is the rubber on the mount and torque rod would expand from the heat enough to dampen the engine vibrations). Replaced the right mount and the torque rod and runs just like new. There are a couple of videos on youtube from volvosweden on how to replace those.
