Default AM Radio useless due to static and poor reception

I just purchased a 2006 S80 NO AM!!! I tried the brass strip fix....no joy!!! I travel and I will die a slow death if I have to listen to NPR all day [National Proletariat Radio] I gotta have AM talk! Any suggestions?

Works like a champ. Interestingly, when I disconnected the antenna amplifier [little green box] in the passenger rear quarter panel by the bumper, the FM continued to work just fine.

I saw that mentioned earlier and didn't know what it meant. How do I check that? Do I put a CD in it and see if it works? [I am such an old dude that I don't carry CD s around with me]

Default The CD player works

I found a CD and tried the CD player, it works fine. I also went to pull-a-part and tried a new antenna booster [the little green box that you put the brass strip on the connector of] and that made no difference. Quite frankly I really cant see what that little brass strip actually does. The purported reason for using it is to help with grounding, but the end of it is taped to the plastic side of the little green antenna booster box, how the heck is that supposed to make any difference???

As was mentioned already, you need to replace the CD player.

You mean replace the whole radio/cd unit? They are one unit.

Yep. It's called the IAM. There is a bulletin about it for this exact issue.

Would that be 3bulletin....39-0018 and 39-0025

those are about the brass strip, which I have already tried. If there is another bulletin, what number is it?

Also, If I got a radio from a junker, would it work without the dealer PROGRAMMING IT?

Default Window antenna

I found the window antenna and moved the brass strip to the window antenna coax cable/booster connection, but it made no improvement.
