Default Bought 2002 S80

I take delivery of my 02 S80 T6 next week. It has just had a complete lookover at the dealer. They found nothing wrong with it (of course they didn't). It's got 59,000kms (about 31,000miles).

I know the history of the vehicle - it has never had any problems, nada, nothing. My father was leasing it, so I trust him to tell me if there has ever been any problems.

In any event, it comes with a 2 year from June 1 bumper to bumper warranty to 160,000km. I've talked to the Service Manager and grilled him about the problems I've read about here. He was candid and admitted he'd seen some of the same, but on earlier models. I think mine was made in early to May, 02. He said the warranty WILL cover many of the common problems.

I've got some questions:

If this was made in early to May 02, have some of the problems been worked out?
Does anyone use a K&N air filter? Is it worth the extra?
How hard is it to change the cabin filter?
Is it a requirement to get the oil filter wrench if you are a DIY?
Does anyone own the VADIS CD? Should I get it, ($18 on ebay) if only to be able to talk sensibly to the mechanic?

Thanx.

In 02 the bugs were pretty much worked out.
The K&N is up to you.I run one in my car.
The cabin filter is pretty easy to replace.Try doing a search I think I have posted how to do it on here before. If not let me know and I will.
If you will be changing your oil then yes you will need a filter wrench.Buy one at an auto parts store.
If you can get an English version for $18.00 then I would say buy it fast.

Thanx tech,

One other thing, the service manager said that the S80 (or maybe all Volvos) eat up lightbulbs. It seems that when one goes, it blows a circuit and maybe others have to be replaced.

Know anything about this?

And this is the ebay auction:

The bulbs burn out pretty fast but they are on all the time.Everytime the key is on the lights are on.
If one burns out it is better to just replace both or in a day or so you will have to replace the other one.

Seems like a good deal for the Vadis Software.
One of these years I will buy one myself.I don't have it yet but need one.
