So I bought the '99 S80 T6 dispite all the common sense offered here, primarily due to my wife's nagging... she just loves the body style. We had it 2 days and the "Service Transmission Immediately" warning came on. Good thing I got a 12 month warranty was the first thing that went through my mind. I took it back to the dealership at the beginning of December and they promptly took it to the local Volvo dealer for diagnostics. 5 weeks later I get the car back after they put 5,900 Euro into the car. They replaced the trans (not rebuilt), put new CV joints in, changed the half shafts, and the differential. So now its got new running gear but the "Emission System Requires Service" message on now, it's intermittent so I am pretty sure they just messed up an O2 sensor, but thats on order. I paid $10K for the car and the drive train fix already cost the dealership approx. $7K, and the emissions sensor is another $400. Hopefully the beast will be happy for a while. I have an appointment at Heico next month to have them put there perfomance ECU, Air Charge Hoses, and Exhaust on it. I am just glad that for the time being I am stationed in Germany and can go to them directly for the upgrades. Should be good to go after this, might get the SPORTIV VOLUTIONĀ® X. TITAN 8x18 with the tax return. Wife likes it and I did buy it for her, but for now I am going to do with it what I can...lol... that seems to be what all of us are doing.

Me to I'm just glad I got that warranty! I knew it would be a bad idea not to after hearing all the input from this forum!

 

Wow seeing all this makes me almost want to not try swapping for a T6...hope all works out for you though....
