Default A/C Problem on my 01 S80

My S80 seems to have a wierd A/C problem and no one can figure it out.

It works for a while then just goes out. Starts blowing hot air. It seems the hotter it is outside the faster it goes out. It worked all year long without issues but now that it's hot again itsback. Last year we thought it was the relay overheating and replaced it. Turns out that's not the problem.

If you turn it on just a little and not on the coldest settting it lasts longer before it start blowing out hot air. If you run it full blast and on the coldest setting it works for about 15~20 minutes and stops. You can hear the a/c compressor shuts off. IF you let it sit for a few minutes it will come back on...

Any idea's?

The clutch needs to be reshimmed or you need a new compressor.

Some places will reshim and others will only replace the compressor.

I'll have a look at that. How do i check the power at the compressor?

Also i noticed that when it does work it's only working on the driver's side.
The passenger side blow hot..

This is some wierd stuff. Is it possible something is wrong with the ECC?
And if so what does that cost?

I doubt it.
Sounds like you are low on freon as well.

Check power at the compressor wire with a test light when it quits blowing cold.

Well we have sucked the system dry and refilled multiple times and same problems..

Also we would it blow cold on the drivers side and hot on the passenger side?

Also try turning the passenger control **** all the way to hot then back to cold and see if it starts blowing cold.

Sometimes the ECC has a brain fart and slows down bigtime.

I wanna have my car checked out again this week.

What is the exact procedure for filling/recharging the a/c? ( details/step by steps)
How much Freon needs to be in the system? (how much exactly?)
Where do you fill from? (Hi side/ low side?) (When we tried the Hi side it wouldn't take any freon? it would only take when we tried from the low side)

Any other tips or checks would be great to know..

Thanks...

The proper way would be to have an A/C machine.
Evacuate the system and vaccum the system for atleast 30 minutes.

Then charge the system from either the high or low side it doesn't matter.

The Yellow sticker under the hood should tell you much the system holds. I think it might be 2.17lb but not 100% sure.

Curious if there's a ECM Code for a bad low pressure switch (for A/C system) ?

I doubt it your car really doesn't have a low pressure switch.
