considering a 2000 s80 2.9, and a few questions...
so i am looking at getting a 2000 s80 2.9 among some other cars, but i cant find any info on it, so i was wondering what you guys here thought/know about it.
1)is it a timing chain or a timing belt?
2)how good is the accleration, ie 0-60 times, torque curve, etc.
3)how does it ride and how does it handle?
4)is it reliable past 112k?
5)are the electrical problems really as bad as i have heard? or is it minor, annoyance type stuff?
i havent procured a test drive yet, but wanted to know what you thought

I have a 2001 S80 non turbo. Being that I take car of my cars to the extreme, I wouldn't purchase a 2000 used due to several issues. The timing belt is just that. The transmission is a weak point and some electronics are a nightmare. If you do the work youraelf, then it may be an option fpr you, but the replacememt parts will be as much as the purchase price.
The worst component of the early S80's are the GM transmissions, if it hasn't been repaired/replaced by 112k, it will need to be sooner then later. The timing belt is not a big deal, a lot of cars use belts instead of chains, but at 112k, it should be on it's way to be replaced soon (if it hasn't already).
As for driving one, I think they're great, I love the tight suspension (typical European car) and performance is decent, but not overly impressive (I have a 2.5T).
