My1999 S80 is leaking a brown oil. The mechanic says that it is so much that they can not see much and it needs an steam-cleaning. I believe the engine is the one leaking. Any idea how much would be the steam-cleaning, and the risks of breaking something with the procedure? What things can leak in an enginee?

The oil leak can be many things.
I would not steam clean the motor it can mess many things up.

 

They say that it is so messy that they can not see from where the leak is coming; should I suggest something else to the mechanic instead of steam-cleaning the motor? I'm agraif of telling him to do not steam-clean and him replying to me that he can not do anything then ... (I'm clueless).

Brake cleaner works really well to clean the motor and it evaperates really quick.
