Thumbs down Excessive Vibration at Idle

Gentlemen, I have a 2001 S80 and I am experiencing an extraordinary amount of vibration through the steering wheel while the car is at idle. While in drive/reverse, with brake on at a stand still, same vibration. When excelerating the vibration seems magnified until driving speed is attained. Do I have engine mounts that have failed? Mileage is 315K.

Feel free to send me private messages.

Thank You.

More than likely the lower right engine mount has completely collapsed. Turn you steering wheel so that you can get to the front part of the right wheel well. Pull back the fender liner and if it is completely collapsed then half of the bottom bolt on the mount woo not be visible or it won't be visible at all

I just purchased a 2008 S40 and are experiencing the same thing. I realize these two cars are not the same, but just so I know, do you remember what you paid to have the issue repaired?

Brandon, best to post this as a new thread on the S40 board to get some views from those readers. There's several motor mounts (aka torque rods) - have you looked around to see if any are visually torn or show where the motion is centered? There should be a plastic door on the passenger wheel well that you can fold back to get a look at the lower mount (remove the tire - this is used for access when doing the timing belt) I bet there's some Youtube vids showing how to's.
