Default FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER? YES OR NO?

WITH 230K MILES IS IT A GOOD IDEA OR NOT TO USE SOME OF THAT GUMOUT FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER? DOES IT REALLY EVEN WORK OR IS IT A WASTE OF TIME?

From what iv read the shell vpower one is superb, its the same thing you get with their premium fuel so it definitely has to be safe

Cool, I picked some up at the auto-store, I was close to empty on my tank so I dumped it in at the filling station just before filling up the tank. Darn gas prices [:@]and espically since the car says to use premium gas also . Now I'm used to running premium in my Mustang which only see's about 2000 miles a year but the Explorer I always put 87 octane in. I assume since the manual suggests 91+ octane for the S80 that is what I should use!

well iv always found that midrange just makes no sense its halfway between regular and premium in price but only gives you 2 octane more than regular wheras i think premoum gives you about 5 more? so why pay half the difference for less than half... for me its either regular vs premium and i go premium always, yea it costs me mroe but i figure its just better for the car.. .id love to attest to the mileage difference it gives but i thrash my car everywhere hahah so i cant really give you accurate figures
