Hi

I have a 99 S80 2.9 and their is a strong gas smell coming from the car. The car is parked in the garage and the whole garage smells like gas. And the smell has gotton stronger now. And not only does it smell from the outside but it smells from the inside also with the windows shut. Any ideas what the problem might be.

It sounds like your car has been affected by the last round of reals for the model. I had a recall for the fuel pup a few weeks ago. I didn't smell any gas but I do remember that Volvo sent me a letter saying that the recall cover that type of issue.

Go to your dealer to see if you effected by any recalls. If so it should be free. Labor and parts.

 

The service recall was only good for ten years or 200,000 miles. You'll be paying the repair yourself. Go to a Indy shop to save on the install providing it is the rubber seal on your fuel pump. It may be a cracked fuel hose somewhere else.
