Default How do you remove the window regulators?

I have a 2001 S80 and some time ago every plastic clip in the car started breaking. The small blue sliders in the window regulators crumbled and unfortunately the regulator arm bent when it went down. It looks like it's riveted to the door! Am I missing something here? I can't figure out how to remove it to replace it (do Volvo owners actually work on their cars or do they "Have a mechanic"?)

A nut and 2 rivets hold the regulator. 2 rivets attach the glass to the slider.

As I remember, the two rivets are holding the entire unit to a crossmember in the door. Do you have to drill those out to replace it? If so, can you use screws and a nut to reinstall the new one?

Yes & yes. Plenty of room to reach in there and hold the nut while tightening the bolt. Forget which size I used as I have plenty of spares. Just make sure they're not too long and bind up on something inside the door... like the glass.
