Default How often should I change oil for my 2001 S80

Hi,

The autoshop told me every three month or 3000 miles, which came first, just change it. It turns out that it took me 1 year to drive 3000 miles, so I change oil every three months. But it is quite expensive, every time I spent more than $100, because it need the synthetic oil and should change the filter at the same time.

I looked at the manual, it says: "Oil and oil filter changes should be made at 7,500 mile (12,000 km) intervals. " Does this mean I don't need to change oil so frequently? So How often should I change the oil? Thank you very much!

Regards,
Haifei

synthetic oil.....Change every 6 months or 5,000miles.
conventional oil....Change every 6 months or 3,000miles.

Manual says 7,500 ad I am sure it would be fine.

I follow the 7,500 mile, synthetic only rule in my S80.

Thanks for all the replies, I think 6 months is fine for me. 7500 miles is too long. It takes me more than one year to drive 7500 miles. May I change the oil by myself? Is there any instruction? Thanks.

Pull car on jacks
find oil pan
Unscrew oil pan plug
Let oil drain
Replace oil pan plug
Unscrew oil filter
let drain
install new filter with oil on gasket
re-install
pour oil in
run
measure oil level
pour more if needed

Highly recommend getting a oil filter cover tool to remove the cover of the oil filter off.
