Interior Rear View Mirror Replacement
hi, I have an unusual problem and would appreciate some feedback. I just purchased a used S80 T6 (2000) and the inside rear view mirror had a problem, half of it was dark while the other half was light. As a quick fix, I bought a used mirror from the junk yard from a dismantled S80 of the same year and installed it. After installation, my remotes went dead, map lights stopped working and remotes stopped functioning. I took the car to a Volvo dealership who advised me that the mirror replaced was responsible for this. According to them each mirror has a VIN# that is programmed to it and if I needed to replace my mirror, I would need to purchase a new mirror for $1,000 and they would program the same. Since the mirror I installed had the VIN# of another vehicle programmed, the computer rejected the same resulting in the electronic nightmare that I explained. They replaced my junkyard mirror with the defective mirror previously removed and presto, everything started working normally. Can someone please advise if there is a way to program the used mirror I purchased to make it work in my car? Thank you
We cannot install a used Interior rear view mirror's from another car. They come blank from the DC and we download them with the car info to the mirror and some times we have to replace both remotes at the same time as the mirror.
Wonder how so many people are selling used mirrors online. Ebay is filled with them.
