Default need help- changing rear brake pads '07 S80

I have 2005 XC90 and 2008 Land rover LR2 -land rover uses the same brakes as 2007-2008 Volvo S80 3.2L.
A few months ago I changed front brakes on Land Rover and 2-3 months later master cylinder went bad -I was told that I should have opened bleeder screws before pushing pistons back into the calipers.

Now I want to change rear pads and need advise:
1. Do I need to clamp the brake hose before opening the bleeders?
2. Is there a "special" tool required to push pistons back into the calipers?

Since there is only 1-2 mm left on the pads, I cannot wait too long -pleeease, HELP!

thanks a lot

No need to open the bleeder. A pair of pliers should work to push it back.

tech,

thank you for quick reply

- I was told that (when changing the front pads) by pushing back old brake fluid I destroyed seals in the M. cylinder... Is that true?
thanks again

I have heard on some car lines it can. But on Volvo it does not.

I have to wonder, how many miles do you have on your car that you need to change the rear pads already...

Rears go a lot longer then fronts.

Tech I have 125,000 miles on my car and as far as I know have the same rotors and calipers. Never had to turn them and they have never warped on me. Do you think the rotors and calipers need changing?

I doubt the calipers need replacing.
The rotors can be measured to see how thin they are.
