Default Noise in Front End and Steering Problem

HI,

I have a 2004 S80 with 70K (interstate miles). Lately, I have heard a clanking noise under the front end when I go over a rough road. Also, there is no play in my steering column but while I'm driving, I feel like I'm all over the road, like I'm swearving back and forth. Any ideas, suggestions, so forth would be appreciated. I hate to have to spend mega bucks at the dealers if I don't have to.

Thanks!

Most common things to cause that noise.
Sway bar end links Front or Rear.
Spring Seats front.

Are the tire pressures correct?
What kind of tires are on it?
It could also feel like that from the worn suspension parts.

The Tire Pressure is ok, I have checked this.

I put new tires on Goodyear 17" about 6 months ago. Soon after that is when I began hearing the knocking sound. The steering has just become an issue within the last 2 months.

Thank you for your help!

Check/replace those parts first.
You might also have worn Lower Control arm bushings causing the swaying.
You can have then inspected while checking the other parts.
