got oil changed yesterday, and when I asked how many qts they put in first guy said "we just fill it to the level" so I asked the guy that did it and he said "8 qts" - I was thinking 6.5-7 was the right amount, so I checked. Level is well over the hashmarked section almost up to the crease in the dipstick. Should I get some drained out?

 

Yes!!

 

is full at the top of the hashmarked section of the dipstick?

 

As long as the level is within the hashmarks, you are good. If it's at the top, your fine. Anymore, you will need to have some drained out. Too much oil will cause increased pressure, compromising your engine gaskets.
