Default Oil Pump

I have a s80 and I need a oil pump. I was told that it is comon for the s80 1999. The price to fix it would be aroud 1,400. I was also told that i might still have the issue if I have the work done because if the port holes are clogged there would be no pressure. Then I would need to have the head done and the hole job would then be around 5,000. is that true.
Thanks for the help.

How do they know if the port holes are clogged? What motor is installed in the car? Get the number off the front of the timing belt cover. I think it's the same motor as the S90 or 960's. If that is the case, I would just replace the oil pump and see what happens.

How many miles on the car?
