Man, That's one SICK S80! I like the wheels and the stance!

 

The Eibach springs lowered it 1.5 inch all around, but the Bilstein shocks raised it slightly. So, it's about 1' - 1 1/4' lower than stock now.
The handling is MUCH improved thanks to the IPD swaybars. The rims are 18 inch Ronals and the tires are Falken RT-615s.
If you like a sporty ride, then I highly recommend this parts combo - it's a night and day difference between now and stock.
The best way to describe it is that now I can take most cloverleaf ramps well over 55mph

I know that's not much of a Drop, but how much bounce do u feel over stock?

 

Yeah...there's more bounce than stock too.
But not an unreasonable amount.

I can't see having it any lower... I already scrap the curb when leaving my driveway (curb is about 2 inchs tall - see my neighbor's curb across the street in the last picture as an example)
I ran over some plowed ice on the highway and it ruined a O2 sensor just last month.

Defininately need to install a skid plate too if your gonna lower your S80

Get some Bilstein HDs or KONIs, and some nice springs with IPD bars.
Or IPD bars, and rock a Coilover setup.

BTW, I love those Ronals.

 

this post is quite funny because i have been in the process of doing this to my black S80. I have run into quite a few bumps in the process, such as a new engine, power steering rack, etc... but so far i have taken off the stock grille and painted that black myself (trying to save some money), the whole car is completely debadged, blacked out tail lights are to come soon, i have put white bulbs in my front blinkers to clear corner them, and window tint is to come soon, then all my car needs is rims and a new paint job. haha. but all in all great choice, ill give you some pics once i get my car a little bit better looking HAHA.

Did you buy those Ronals through IPD when they were $114.50/each? I like those wheels. So much so I bought 5, you could not pass the deal up. Made in Germany wheels at such a low cost. I am spoiled though because I live only an hour away from IPD so I picked them up. What sold me was when I photoshopped them to my car. Mine should look like this. I have not put them on because I am saving them until spring. I also can afford tires around that time.

I love the look, but IMO the rear needs 5mm spacers.
I only brought 4, and late last fall, (a week before I was going to change back to my winter tires) I bent one of em'. I'm hoping that I can get it straightened out.

 

Step one of project "Murdered Volvo" was completed today.

I removed the volvo band and painted the grill gloss black.
I also completely debadged the back.

Im doing the window tint and headlight/taillight tint next week.

Im considering what to do with the gray sun faded plastic around the car. Im either going to paint it flat black (doubt it) or sand them and paint body color (alot of work) or leave it alone (want to wait until the window tint and headlights are tinted to see how bad it is).

Next step is the Volvo R wheels (Im going to powdercoat them gloss black)
Im either going to get the replicas or try and find some used ones.

Just painting the grill black has kind of changed the attitude of the front.

 

Nice work so far...... There's a black dye in the market for faded out molding. JimKY did his and posted pics and soon after I did mine. Ours is grey , but the company has black dye for the faded ones. This might be an easier cost friendly alternative. http://showroomnewproducts.com/

good work on the s80 so far, but if you plan on ordering the pegasus replica rims from IPD I think they had some stock issues recently.. not sure if they sorted it out yet or not..

Well, I did my 850 2 weeks ago and I thank JimWK for posting his find because If he hadn't posted it, I would be looking at faded trim and bumper on my car... Trust me when I tell you " IT WORKS" and its only like 10 bucks!

I just want to see if I like the contrast with the gray once my Headlight tint spray comes in.
I saw a post somewhere that said the company that makes the "Nightshades" brand of tint spray makes another spray for windows, and apparently it works MUCH better than the nightshades stuff. Dries glossy and no need for clear coat, its apparently very durable. I get mine from Summit Monday or Tuesday.

 

Honestly, I was so excited when I did mine that I didn't take pics of my car before/after but it you go on my photo album the pics of my 850 on there was taken the next day after doing the bumper and trim and can see it looks like new. Check this thread out and see JimKW's pics he posted. This thread has pics. of before/after.

 

nightshade works awesome, you just have to sand before, then prep, then do very light coats, wet sand between coats, then do clear coats and it should come out perfect and last forever, if done correctly

 

My guess is, I will need A LOT of painters tape to do that showroom black dye safely and properly.. I plan on doing all the rubber trim on the car, which means A LOT of potential to get it completely wrong.

 

HOnestly no...I only taped up the door handles and under the headlights. I took a regular sponge and cut out a piece about half the width of the molding and used that to apply the dye. Worked great since it wasn't a big clumbsy sponge. Worked well also for the bumpers, but each his own.
