Default Possible P2 S80 Purchase

I am primarily a P80 guy, but there is a really good deal by me for a 2000 S80 2.9. The car is around $700, and was mainly maintained at a Volvo dealership. The car now doesn't start. It wont even turn over. The owner had the issue diagnosed at the Volvo dealership and the CEM is bad. Due to the fact that the CEM is a very expensive part new and could be a possible deal breaker, I have a few questions...

Ist the CEM coded with the car? If I were to buy a used one would it be plug and play?

Is there any company that repairs CEM's?

If they arent plug and play, are there certain parts from a junkyard car that i could buy to make it all work?

Thanks

Don't know what it takes to program a new CEM to the car, but you might check with BBA Remanufacturing to see if they rebuild them.
