Red face Removed my power seat module

My drivers power seat stopped working. i removed the power seat module and direct wired the power to the seat motors so i can reposition the seats. Apparently the power seat module is used by the SRS Airbag system as I get an airbag warning message and the airbag symbol stays illuminated on the dash. Has anyone else had to deal with this? How do i get around the airbag warning without the PS Module?

Have you consider checking the fuses first?

Yep, checked the fuses first thing -- that needs to be a lesson for all of us on the forums. Save yourself some headaches, check the fuses first!

The module had been acting funky for the past 18 months. First it was the memory positions that starting blanking out, then occasionally the seat controls wouldn't work, but it seemed to work when i would sit on the seat instead of my wife, then i took it up north for Christmas the seats stopped working until i returned to the warmer temps of the desert.

So now I'm trying to figure out if there's a work around the airbag deal. I don't know if the '01 has the intelligent airbags that deploy differently based on seat position. I can't see why the airbag circuit would be part of the seat position if it didn't have the intelligent deployment scheme.

Remember too that those seats has the whiplash protectin system. It is link to the airbag cause one of the side airbags comes out from the seat. Best its to take out the seat and inspect the cables and everythng. As for the srs warning light is a dealer reset so yeah maybe an extra 100 buscks for that
