Cabin fan coming on with key removed
Today we were out cleaning the car in the driveway, the car was off and the keys were sitting in the house. We noticed that the cabin fan had turned on at some point and were baffled. All the dash lights were off and there was no indication that the car was on. We put the keys in the ignition and were able to turn off the fan manually. We drove it again later and we came back to the car to find the fan running again. We performed the same procedure and turned the fan off.
What would cause this? We certainly don't want to come out to a dead battery!! Advice?
Thanks.

Had you just driven within the past hour or so?
It's common for the afterblower to come on by itself when the keys are out of the ignition and the car is off. I think it keeps the A/C lines unclogged or something along those lines.

That would make sense, this is the first time of the year that the A/C has been used and both "incidents" have been shortly after a drive. We purchased the car just a few months ago, so this is the first time we've used the A/C extensively. However, the fan did kick in about a half hour after parking the first time.
I am so glad to read this. My car has been doing the same thing for the last month here in Texas. I thought that the spirit of my mother-in-law had invaded the car since it was doing weird things I didn't expect or deserve. I feel better now.
