Hi,

I replace air mass sensor by myself. I was wondering do I need to reset my ECU by volvo dealershop?

Does not have to be by the dealer.
Have you cleared the codes yet?
If so then disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and that should reset the ECU settings.

Hi,
My problem was that engine idle was bouncing so I replaced a MAF sensor.
and I tried to reset my ECU settings by disconnecting the battery cable but it didn't seem to be reset. because engine idle kept bouncing.
(I was able to see some stuff were reset because the clock and radio stations were cleared)
so finally, I took my car to the dealer and they reset it with $92 charge.
I'm not so sure what the problem was.

After replacing the Air Mass sensor, you do not need to reset the ECU. It will correct the reading it receives from the sensor and apply the correct idling settings.

Its a good idea to reset the ECM. This will force it to re-run its adpatation which is a good thing if you have replaced the MAF. I think its part of the Volvo dealer proceedure actually. This is different for clearing your OBD codes and requires either the ECM fuse to be removed or battery disconnected for 15mins for so. The car will run "funny" while its adapting, you can try this process to speed the adaptation up. Its taken from the 850 service manual, however the same basic principles apply:-

Cruise at light to medium throttle
Decellerate to a stop, allowing vehicle to downshift and use brakes normally.
