Default Reversing Lights

Reversing Lights on my 1999 S80 t6 automatic have ceased functioning. Checked the fuses all are working. Probably malfunctioning switch. Can anyone indicate where the switch is positioned.

Most likely a bad PNP switch.

The PNP switch is the park Neutral position sensor it tells the computer what gear the car is in.
It is mounted on the top of the transmission where the shifter cable attaches to the tranny.

Thanks for help so far. I note where the cable attaches to the transmission. There is an electrical unit just beside it. Presumably this is the PNP unit

The PNP usually mounts over the shaft the cable mounts to.

Thanks for your continuing help. I now have gained some knowledge of the mechanics of the gear shift and cable connection to the transmission case. I have taken up the plastic housing around the gear lever and examined the arrangement there in addition I have traced the cable to the transmission case and identified where the cable moves a shaft entering the transmission case. I cannot identify any electrical unit anywhere along the run of the cable back from where it enters the transmission case at least for a number of feet whereafter it runs out of sight under the engine. I must be missing something. My first question is should I be looking near the gear lever or is PNP sensor in the region of the shaft entering the transmission case.
