Default S-80 alarm issue

I have had for the past several nights ,my alarm indicator flashing fast and the message of security system service required or check alarm on the message center. I don't think I have people messing with the car at night so where should I start to look for possible issues. Also No alarm horn is sounding during this fault , I don't know if that helps or not .Thanks

Default RE: S-80 alarm issue

I had my siren in my car going off lately when it is parked (I'm not sure if its the motion sensor). I have a broken right front door panel which is completely falling apart. The Volvo dealer said he did not find any codes in my car and he is suspecting that the broken door panel is the triggering the siren. Since the dealer's comments, I did not touch the problem-door; did not want to trigger the siren in case if the door panel doesn't sit in proper place after I closed the door. The siren never came on again.

I will replace the door panel this weekend (by Oct 8, 2007). I'll wait for the siren for a week or so and if it did not go off again, I will assume that it is fixed after I replaced the door panel and the dealer was right.

Btw; the siren was coming from under the right fender inside my car's hood. And, when the siren if going off, the horn does not go off.

Cheers...

The siren is most likely bad.
When it goes bad it will trip the messages and go off by itself for now reason.

As I said, I replaced the door panel and the siren problem is still alive. It just went off 5 times in 30 mins. The message "Alarm system.... something" pops up in the message center and when I press messages button, it says "0 Messages".

But, I observed that when the siren goes off, I unlock the car, open one of the doors and closes it. That sometimes stops the alarm, but doesn't work with the same door always.

I am not sure what the problem is with the siren. I don't have other options thanreplacing it.

Thanks.

Thanks Tech.

If the alarm keeps going off by itself then most likely it is bad.
Directed at both of you.

I agree with tech.

It supposedly needs to be calibrated but you may be able to get away with just replacing it yourself

More info?

The dealer said if the little battery inthe keyremote is dying then the alarm/siren *might* behave like that. Mine was dying and the remote casing was coming apart also, so I replaced the battery for $5 at the dealer. I am basically trying all sorts of things to see what triggers the siren (or what stops triggering it, which ever way you look at it). So, I'm waiting for my siren to go off again now. Lets wait and see. [sm=insomnia.gif]

EDIT: Latest Update:

The alaram went off again today guys, and the 'Alarm System Service Required' message popped up as usual - even after all these trial and error fixes. The only option now is to replace the alarm module or whatever.

Thanks.

not to be a pain or anything but I (rvinson) started this string. My issue was, and still is, my dash indicator and marker lights start flashing for no reason ,no one is touching the car, and I would like to know what to look at first to try to keep it from waking us up with the flashing. There is no audible siren while this is happening. Can anyone stay on target and give me help? If I need to intentionally trigger the alarm to check the siren I will. As a matter of fact I will try that later this evening and give you a shout back. I really do hope I didn't step on anyones tail but this string went off on a tangent for someone elses problem and I waited to see if it was going to come back my way and give me some direction but it didn't appear that it was going to. Thanks RV
