Question S80 T6, dead #4 and #5 cyl.

Hey guys ! new to the forums...

Let me start from the beginning, I bought a 00 T6 with 150k off Craigslist ( Cheap ) being told it needed a headgasket. (story has it the p/o ran it hot due to WP failure) my seller did a wp and timing belt job only to find it needed a headgasket...

Fast forward bought it, brought it home, started looking it found the the "oil" in the coolant was trans fluid and no coolant in the trans. SCORE !!

BUTTTT I still have a rough idle, so I assumed he had not set the timing correct.. so i lined everything up and everything looks good ...

Found the #4 & #5 are "dead" swapped coils around, swapped plugs (#4 and #5 were wet from fuel), swapped injectors, and also did a compression test all 6 are 170 -180 ish... tested voltage to coils ( 4 and 5 ) against others and all seems the same.

My question is, if the Exhaust cam is out a bit will that cause a mis on just two Cyls ?
Thanks Guys !

You swapped coils, plugs, and injectors. Don't suppose you swapped the coil wire connectors between 4 & 5? Just a thought....

You're welcome Glad it worked out. I think Volvo did that on purpose. They probably get quite a few people that come in with that misfire issue then charge them $100 to "fix" it
