I am looking at a 07 S80 with the 4.4L V8. I find it odd that I can find very little information on the engine and how reliable it is. I am amazed that sites like IPD and FPC whwere I get most of my Volvo parts have surprising little when it comes to the V8 model.

Most of the parts I have been able to find are from VOLVO's OEM web site. Very expensive. Are there other sources for parts for this engine/vehicle besides Volvo?

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has one and does most of their own work.

 

Volvo's in themselves do not have a lot of aftermarket support, and for what there is, is most often geared to the Turbo models, because they offer the biggest opportunity for performance boost.

General cosmetic parts/accessories, shouldn't be all that different between the 3.2, T6 or the V8, just engine parts, which as you can see are a little harder to find in the V8 models. You have to remember, when you have three engines available in a particular car, especially a lower volume vehicle, you are going to decrease the aftermarket support for each model, and since the 3.2 was the most common, that's where most of the support is going to be (outside again of the general performance upgrades for the T6).

I've found that IPD/FCP (my usual first stops) have very little for our 09 S80 3.2, besides filters, etc, compared to whats available for the 02 V70XC. I did locate some parts that I would consider at Rock Auto, as well.
