Default Seeking opinions re: Shock/Strut replacement on S80

Hi everyone:

Basic background: I have used the search function on this forum and learned a few things but I still have some questions. The car is primarily used for commuting on California's ever decaying public streets and highways with an occasional long distance trip; Car is factory stock and rides on 245/40r18 Pirelli P Nero Zero tires which, to the seat of my pants, are quite plush so stiffer springs are not on my list for this car. Recently I've noticed that the front suspension is clunking when going over bumpy roads and, upon inspection, the factory struts/shocks appear flaccid at 103,000 miles so it's time to replace them. In addition to the struts and shocks , I see several other suspension components may also be wear items. Looking at IPD and FCP online, I see listings for strut mounts, strut bearings, strut mount reinforcements, and lower control arm bushings. My questions are:

Does anyone disagree with the choice of Bilstein Touring for this car? If so, why?
I am operating on the assumption that the upper mount Strut Bearings are the likely culprit for the clunking and are due for replacement at this mileage. Any other views on that?
Do the metal strut mounts actually wear out? If so, typically how often?
Likewise do the strut mount reinforcements actually wear out? If so, typically how often?
What sort of service life can be expected from factory control arm bushings?
As customers, what opinions/recommendations do you have about IPD and FCP as vendors?
Are there any other vendors I should consider?

Thanks in advance for any insight shared with me.
Regards, Jeff

Just buy the stock Boges/Sachs as replacement, it`s all you will ever need for a commuter car
Your other questions are answered this way

No
Yes
100k at least
FCP better prices and selection. I like IPD better
