Default sell or trade value

2000 S80 2.9 ~84k miles
Despite the fact that we just did a 600+ mile round trip getting right at 27/28 mpg floating along like a cloud, I'm thinking about either trading in or selling outright my S80 before anything else comes up like the $1200 worth of front suspension work I had done a few months ago. If I keep it, I'm planning on the timing belt/tensioner/pully and water pump ordeal in the spring which I've already had estimated around $900 at a local indie shop that specializes in Volvo's - claims it's a good idea to do the water pump at the same time since it does not add to the labor and if it goes it will take the timing belt with it. Also I've been itching to go back to somthing smaller with a manual now that my kids are older.

Online estimates vary widely and current asking prices on similar models all have a lot more miles. I've already replaced the ABS module, throttle body, and battery within the last year along with the suspension work - I know I can't recoup all that but hoping to not take too bad of a beating for a sale/trade.

Assuming everything on the car is in great working/cosmetic shape(inside and out), never smoked in, and only 84k miles, any ideas on what I should get for trade or ask for sale?

You can only go with what the market will bear in your market area. Since cash for clunkers, the used market is up.

I sold 2001, 2.9 ,77000 mi. Owned it for three years, white saddle interior, New tires ,real clean, service parts slips, front end rebuilt, alarm module replaced,Variable steering acting up (steering rack, drop front sub frame,$800-$1000 for rack)emission code,J hose leaking(smeared silicone on hose, erase code,(subframe needs to be droped to fix properly) Timing belt coming up!$300 parts plus weekend gone. Last straw was engine module setting codes that did not belong to car,$500 to Rebuild module, I did not fix any of the problems , I do all my own work .Sold the car for $4800(private sale) and bought a 2007 toyota tacoma and never looked back! Money pits got out of it! On weekends i want to hike, ride my bike, have fun not fix my car! O- dont forget about the tranny going $$

Checked KBB a few weeks ago and offered $ 6900 for our s80,2003,non-turbo,65500 on it.
I feel sooo bad to hear about the problems some people have with the s80.It's been a wonderful car for 8+ yrs.Let me knock on wood...so far so good... nothing major.

Just my two cents and good luck.
