Starts without FOB near car

When I purchased the 2008 S80 I was not able to start the car unless I had the Fob on me or in the car. Now the car starts by just a push of the button and the fob can be forgotten at home. Can't lock the car though.

Perhaps there is the extra key in the car that fell under the seat.
