Default Steering

I parked on some snow, it was kind of high on a hill, and anyways I went to take a left turn almost like a u-turn type turn (lol), and my steering wheel did two things it made a moaning sound that sent some vibrations to the steering wheel, as well got a little stuck... funny thing is it only did this when I took a left turn, it was so strange... It wasa smooth feeling stick though, but it happened more than 3 times, and each time it made the moaning sound...

Any Ideas?

Is the fluid low at all?
Is the fluid bottle broke?

yeah it could be the power steering fluid, check how much is in there and look around to see if there's a leak.

Now remove the lid again.
Look where the small hose goes into the bottle in the top back of the bottle.
Look with a flashlight. You should see a piece of plastic that goes from by the hose to the bottom of the bottle. If you look and see a copper sleeve there the bottle is bad.
Thats what is causing the noise.

I looked at the top area, and the fluid itself was very blackish greeen, with little bits of glitter pieces throughout it... I couldnt find the copper sleeve though... is it near the surface of the fluid or in the middle?

If the bottle is bad then you will be able to see it.
If you are standing on the passenger side looking in the bottle it will be far left side.

Ok the noise is a lot worser, It has a scraping noise to it, and the moaning is stronger when I turn less to the left side(use to happen at the max of the turn but now a lot less turning is required), Also it felt like the tire was hitting something on the maximum part of the turning radius to the left side......

But i will check for the broken bottle tommorow.

Yup, my tire rubbed when I turn all the way left, like making a u-turn. I think the inner tie rod and bushings are bad. Like I said in the other posts, I'll get to them this summer. Since your post, I'll pay more attention not to turn all the way. It might cause the steering system to over work and go bad.

BTW, the dealer said the "inner rod has play". Of course, I'll change this too. I think it's the one causing the rubbing.

Sorry to jump in your post, but these seems to be related.

I think I found the problem, that hose going to the power steering tank is leaking from there... I only saw the leak when the engine was running for a while, it was bubbling... Does the hose need to be resealed on that or change the power steering tank?

See picture

If that clamp is tight and it keeps leaking I would replace both the hose and the bottle.

I see, Tech this will make it the third time that it has leaked(it was replaced the other two times), is there possibly an underlying cause that is more serious?
