Hey guys,

i'm slowing getting my s80 back to the way it was when it was new- after being in a "fender bender" (what is a fender bender to a volvo tho? i had to replace the front fascia... what a mess that was) --i think i'm close.

--it's time for new shocks after having them on the car since it was new over 144K miles ago. any suggestions on what i should get? also, i don't think i NEED my rear shocks to be replaced but is it necessary to get them replaced at the same time?

also, if anybody is in the Denver, CO area and has a suggestion of where i should get some new shocks put on, it would be appreciated too.

Technically speaking, the car uses struts instead of simple shocks. I tried NAPA struts on the front and had problems with the upper strut mount staying locked in place. NAPA also did not include lower rubber isolators. I eventually had my mechanic remove the napa hardware and replace with OEM hardware. No more problems, no more noises from the front.

my bad, thanks for correcting me. i thought for a long time it was the struts, but it was a faulty upper strut mount that had failed and had broken in half which was causing some horrible grinding, squeaking and rattling sounds on the front right. But replaced both and now it rides like a dream. thanks for the tip tho. the car is getting older and it's probably getting time to replace the struts anyway.
