Default Sun roof

Any ideas? Sun roof doesn't open, interior roof side buttons light, center common switch doesn't work. Sun roof fuse is OK.

Thanks

Can you give us more clues?

1. Does it move at all, even the slightest bit?

2. Does it make any kind of noises?

Maybe the motor is bad.

Maybe it some how got off its track.

try checking every single fuse in the car, sometimes ive done that and problems have fixed that the fuse wasnt for.

When I push the switch, nothing, no noise what so ever. Also as I stated, the center light button doesn't work but the two side individual light swithes do. So I would think that there is power to the module.

The locks will wake up the computer controlling all those functions. The computer it wakes up is the rear veiw mirror.

Tried playing with the controls on the door, locks, windows etc. Nothing changed. Maybe I'll just disconnect the battery and let leave for a while and reconnect.

After it is disconnected for a few hold the cables together for about 5 minutes.
That drains all the capasitors in the system.

Only touch the cables together disconnected from the battery.

Eurka,,,, I moved the rear view mirror to the right and up. The red lettering came on the mirror. Then pushed the button for the sun roof. So it appears a loose plug or broken wire, shall investigate latter.

Not to be disrespectful but I have gone the dealer route before. I would rather poke sticks in my eyes.

Now the rearview, it's supposed to auto dim right? I see those two circles on it, I suppose they are sensors. Mine has never worked, I always did think the rearview was kind of large to not do anything special. I've read in some other posts that replacing it is the only fix, or is it? Is there a fuse I should check first?

hmmm.... maybe you need to try another dealer. There are a few. Just maybe a tech would have said... check the mirror. Probobly not. But might.

Glad to hear your roof is working. Be careful when you open it that your mirror don't wig out after you get it fixed.

Well, took the mirror off and checked all connections, three total. Put it all back together, now it seems to be working as designed. We shall see. Probably just a poor connection.

I had this same problem and was resolved rather easily. A Volvo tech at the dealership told me to lock and unlock the doors about four or five times using your keyless entry remote. Immediately after doing this my sunroof was working fine. Hope this helps......

I had the same problem and I jus bought this 99' S80 from a friend, and the second day the sunroof stayed open. So I found out that if u unsnap the sunroof frame and take it out then take the interior lights out around ur mirror andn then get to the back of the mother board on that light pannel there is a lil ribbon wire that snaps into the switch. This wire comes off frequently and if u go to the dealer the stinkin switch will cost u bout $45.00 , all u do is reattach the wire and it should work.. it took me bout 30mins to get all that torn apart
