Throttle Body (ETM) replaced 2x
I have a 2005 S80 T6 with 62,000 miles. About 3 months ago I had the Throttle Body and gaskets replaced at an independent shop (not Volvo dealer).
Then 3 days ago, my car began sputtering with the RPM's going up and down and car went into limp mode. "Check Engine", "Reduced Engine Performance" and "Engine System Service Required" messages/lights came on, which were all the same symptoms prior to earlier ETM replacement.
I had the car towed to the Volvo dealer yesterday and they stated that the ETM failed with fault codes ECM-9210 & ECM-9220. Dealer stated that the ETM part from 3 months ago was after market part. Yesterday they replaced the after market ETM.
Today, I was driving home from the dealer and the car went into limp mode, RPM's fluctuating and Check Engine and Reduced Engine Performance messages, again.
Today when I was returning from the dealer, I was traveling down a road that is under construction and my car was hitting a lot of bumps in the road. It seems that the rough road and the Reduced Engine Performance are related. Is this possible? If so, what could it be?
Also, last week I also hit a large pothole. The car bottomed out and the car engine died completely with no warning lights appearing on the dashboard.
Any suggestions on what may be going on? Computer related? Fuses? Electrical?
P.S. I'm not getting any gas smell in the car and the dealer updated my cars' software.

From my Independent shop as of Tuesday: (re: my 02 v70XC)
There is a problem (Bug) with the most recent build of the ECM software.
It will download and throw no error, but will fault randomly as it tries
to communicate with other modules and shut into limp mode.
It is not activated by any mechanical means.
As of today (Friday) there is no fix released by New Jersey.
It is a deeper problem and there are almost 300 field reports of this bug.
They are hot-patching an older build to release maybe Monday.
I'd ask someone who is a Factory Tech what the longer History
with this troublesome module is.
Hope this helps!

waiting game...
Hey Sam.
My info comes from an old, grizzled owner of an independent shop
in the greater LA area. He's been at this 30+ years.
He has a Volvo Factory tech who drops by several times a week.
That's the source of what I'm hearing.
A patch was released earlier today, and being downloaded.
My mechanic (let's call him Ole) wants to test drive it for a bit
before handing it over. I'll let you know how it all goes.
cheers, Tegan
