Power flushing my trans with 125K on it fixed all my probs. But if I had to do it all over again I'd change the filter first, as that's the only place potentially harmful cr@p can get dislodged from.

yeh my trans was flushed at about 80k~, and at 87k my tansmission started slipping in 3rd gear and getting stuck. Aamco essentially rebuilt it for 2600$. They also through in a 4year 50,000 mile warranty with it because they essentially had my car for ~18 days, and then it had to go back like 9 more times for adjustments andfinally they decided to re-replace the torque converter. Glad its all done. Runs great now cept my throttle body issue is acting up again lol...

I just changed my fluid and filter in my s80. Filter kit at auto zone for about 17 bucks. 2 gallons of atf from walmart for 20 bucksand it works fine. In the owners manual it calls for volvo fluid or mercon/dexron, which gm used forever and you can buy cheap at wally world. Put the beast in the air, dropped the pan, pulled out the filter, cleaned the pan and magnet, reused the stock gasket, and ended up dumping 7 quarts back down the throat. Very easy job to do as long as you can get underneath the car easy.

Not sure if it will help but I took some pics of my trans fluid just to see if anyone has an opinion on it... As I said, it has a fairly strong metallic smell to it but the colour seems to look ok

from what I can see the fluid looks ok, looks like it still has a red tint to it. Did you just have the fluid changed? what about the filter?

Nah, fluid hasnt been changed since I bought the car at 96,000 miles (im about 106,000 now)... I have no idea when last it was done before I got the car because the dealership refuses to give me a service history on it.....
If you think its good I can rest easier... I know ive seen worse ATF, but after all the talk of tranny failures in these cars (despite 02 being a better year) it makes me a bit edgy... I just dont feel as comfortable as I do about the accord despite the accord being 8 years older... eg. sometime I have a really rough shift between 1 and 2 if I lift off and then plant my foot back down... I guess different trannys just behave differently..
