Default Trying to Save My Car

Howdy Folks...I'm a proud owner of a 2002 Volvo S80 T6 Turbo. I'm now experiencing the following issues: I'm getting code 058 constantly, My dash says: Brake Failure Stop Safely...this is odd because my breaks aren't failing. Along with that, my ABS & Brake symbols pop up too. They do go away once I've parked the car for a bit/overnight but they come back on if I hit a bump in the road. Lastly, I'm getting engine system maintenance service required...I JUST had it in for service and everything was fine except for the catalytic converter. What does it all mean?

brakes might be a abs sensor
service engine could be a bad cat if you didn't replace it, or 02 sensors.

get the codes pulled, even with a cat replacement the 02 sensors might be gone.

Hello DonVanhugenstein...thanks for the reply. I know that my O2 sensors are gone bank 1 and bank 2. I just haven't replaced them. This makes me wonder...when I do replace them, will my converter be okay or will it still need to be replaced. I've taken it to the Volvo dealer and they say its "faulty" so I'm thinking its because I need to replace the O2 sensors and not the actual converter..guess the solution now is to just replace the sensors first and see how that affects my converter.

As for the ABS and Brake light thingy...they go off after I've parked the car overnight but they do come back on after I've driven a little ways. Seems to come and go..probably is the sensor as you suggested-because the brakes still engage but steering is a bit difficult when turning. These sensors are so expensive...like $300 a pop! Thanks again for responding...it was helpful.

Those are not codes. You need a code reader or scanner to check codes.

A code will be something such as P0158 which is for 02 sensors.
Also do the sensors before the cat, very good chance the cat is fine and sensors are just bad. If it doesn't fix then do the cat.

He may have given you the short version of the code I'd have to look there are 3 digit codes like p035 etc.
The letter us important though, P = power train, the letters are apart of the code and needed too.

Also yeah the abs sensors are costly, you could live without it but keep in mind when it's on you have no abs. I drive a 2001 cavalier without abs in Canada in the winter so I could care less if I lost it.

I took a guess that 058 and 059 was a short version of a full code and it seems to make sense from what u get for P0058 and P0059 which is the full code and is what they should have gave you.
P0058 is HO2S heater control circuit high bank 2 sensor 2
P0059 is HO2S heater resistance bank 2 sensor 2

Those codes are the 02 sensors as well.
HO2S = Heated O2 Sensor.

Do the 2 sensors, 99% chance its all you need there.
Then like I said, if you want abs change em.

By the way intermittent abs lights could possibly be fixed if you put in some elbow grease and clean them all. Usually it's either broke or its not when it comes to the sensors.
Theyre most likely just dirty.

I'm pretty sure he is getting the "codes" by using the trip reset button. I don't know where, but somewhere on the great internet someone told people it can be done. It can't. The "codes" are just some sort of numeric equivalent of various text displays.

Either way p0058 and p0059 are codes and they are for 02 sensors and he confirmed he knew they're both bad.
So...

Anyways let us know if you got other issues after replacement of the 02 sensors and cleaning your abs sensors.
