Default valve adjustment

I realize the s80 is a shim under bucket design, and I am curious how often you need to do a valve adjustment. This kinda annoys me knowing that I will need special tools. I have a pretty good understanding of shim under bucket, done dozens of them on motorcycles. However with most motorcycles you have to do the adjusment anywhere from every 7500 miles to 15000 miles. What about on a s80. Couldn't get a striaght answear out of vadis.

Also those that have done this, whats the labor time involved. Between building three motorcyles and a c240 apart in my garage, i am worried about not being able to do this job and thinking of just sending her to the dealer.

Any info from tech or any of you guys would be a big help, thanks.

Are you 100% sure you have solid Lifters?

Easy way to tell is take the top Plastic cover off the engine. Look in the Cam cover and see if there is Torxes screws in the cover. If so then they need to be done every 100,000 miles.

I would send to the Dealer. Besides the special tools they are a real Pain might take a Day or so.

You have to see how much it is off buy and then Buy all the buckets (no replacable shims) then install and recheck the clearance.

I see, that's interesting. I will check it out this weekend. Are the shims attached to the buckets, how do they get the correct clearance. Thanks tech.

Yes they are. You replace the entire Bucket. They are different thicknesses.

And if you don't have the Torxes screws they are hydrolic Lifters and need no Adjustment.
