Default Winter tire size

I have some Volvo 16 inch rims for the winter, The proper size for winter tires are 215/55/r16. My tires are getting tired, my brother has some very new 215/70/r16 (winters) Would they fit on my car ?

Default RE: Winter tire size

Those tires should have no problem fitting. There will be a difference in the outside diameter of the new tires (you'll be going faster than the speedo says). A quick way to find out how much it will be off (on your own) is to use an equation, like: 100x(1-(original/new)) = percent difference; where original is the diameter or circumference of your current tire and new is that of the new tire. It shouldn't be much.
