Default '98 powered antenna fix help

I am trying to replace the mast on my S90s powered antenna. The problem I'm having is I can't get the ferrel and bottom of the old mast out. I've tried pulling and twisting on the small exposed end with pliers and I took the outer housing/tube off the motor assembly so I could push (and push) it out with a dowel from the backside. I sprayed some PB Blaster in the housing and let it sit over night and it won't budge! And I'm wacking on the thing hard.

I've watched some replacement videos on youtube and their ferrule and bottom of mast come out really easily.

Suggestions? Thanks

Okay, I finally got it out. I had to drill it out. I started with a small drill and worked up to larger drills. I drilled away the base of the antenna. When I was at a drill size that was snug on the replacement ferrule it finally started spinning and came out. I guess 17 years of weather was enough to really gum it up.

Are you having the same issue? My parents had this car since new and the antenna has been broken for years in the up position with the exposed mast sections broken off. I'm still amazed that it was in there so firmly as there is nothing to rust. Its all brass. Oh well its working like new now.

I had to replace my antenna assembly on both 740's I owned, previously.
Each was over 15 years old at the time and about $200 each. I never bothered to replace only the mast.

I picked up the mast from Ebay for $11 shipped so it was a lot cheaper. But since it was so stuck it took me a couple hours to get the broken parts out. Time or money I guess.

The YouTube videos made it look so easy. If yours had been operational until recently most likely it would have been easier to change out than mine was.
